Seat Leon is an impressive and stylish family vehicle and great to drive. Choosing the Seat Leon can be hard choice to beat for the money. However, the experience of owning a Seat Leon can be hampered a bit if you’re faced with the unfortunate, but surprisingly common problem, a faulty DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).
The DPF is designed to reduce the harmful emission from the exhaust of your vehicle and help protect the environment. Almost all environmentally friendly diesel vehicles have been fitted with a DPF since 2005. When the exhaust fumes pass through the DPF, the gas is able to pass through the DPF unhindered but the harmful particulate matter, the soot, is blocked and deposited within the DPF. In order to stop the DPF from becoming blocked the DPF goes through a “regeneration” process when the soot build up reaches 45% capacity. This is when the ECU causes the DPF to heat up to extreme temperatures and burn off the soot. However the regeneration process is not always successful and repeated failed regeneration attempts will cause the DPF to become blocked. Once this happens the regeneration process will not be enough to clear out the DPF and will need to be replaced or removed.
Replacing a DPF can be very expensive (approximately £1500) and will may leave you open to facing the same problem again. For many, removing the DPF altogether may be the preferred option.
Here at DPF-Solutions we have been removing DPFs from vehicles from many years. We remove the DPF and reprogram the ECU so that the vehicle functions flawlessly without it.
- Lack of power/No throttle response
- Poor fuel consumption
- Particulate Filter light on the dashboard
- Difficult to start or not start at all
- Limp Mode – restricted performance beyond a certain rev range
It may also lead to dangerous build-up of back pressure in the exhaust which can lead to many other serious problems.
Once the DPF is removed you will notice:
- An immediate increase in power and throttle response.
- Better Fuel Economy
- No more Limp Mode
- No more warning lights
If you choose to have the DPF on your vehicle removed by one of our professionals we will also offer a Smoke Correction service. This means we will recalibrate the injectors so they release less smoke and emissions and, as far as we are aware, we are the only company within the UK to offer this service. By carrying out the Smoke Correction service we guarantee an MOT pass!
