Honda Accord 2.2i-DTEC Custom DPF Removal Session
The Honda Accord 2.2i-DTEC although this is a great example of a vehicle, like all other diesels this car is also fitted with a Diesel Particulate Filter also known as the DPF.
The DPF or Diesel Particulate Filter is used to collect carbon particles which are created from the burning of the diesel in the engine. This is then trapped in the filter until the DPF is ready for a regeneration. The regeneration basically is a process the filter goes through to clean this filter out of all the carbon matter. Once the filter is over 40% blocked and the car is at its full temperature, the filter burns away this carbon matter to lower the emissions on diesel vehicles. This is the full function of the DPF on all diesel cars and vans.
On the Honda Accord the DPF is situated right at the front of the engine right after the turbo. This is because that is were the tempereture is at its optimum heat which is great for when the DPF is in regeneration mode. However on this vehicle as others the DPF does still tend to get blocked and causes lots of problems.
- Loss of Power / no throttle response
- Poor fuel consumption
- Hard to start and slow pick up in speed
- Limp mode (won’t rev over 3000rpm)
- Filter Light or Engine management light illuminated
- Engine starts then eventually cuts out
- Engine fails to start
The removal of the actual filter although is simple and easily accessible, the programming is what makes this car a hard one to work on, but here at DPF solutions we have been able to come up with a breakthrough which allows us to program the ECU to make sure once the removal is completed the owner will not get no DPF related lights, no limp mode and no more regenerations, so no problems.
What i can expect after my Honda DPF is removed?:
- Increase in power
- Increase in performance
- Better fuel economy
- Smoothed out flat spots in rev range
- No more limp mode
- No more DPF related fault codes
- No more warning lights
- No more regeneration mode
- GUARANTEED MOT PASS!!!
Whilst we were working on the programming of the ECU one of the main faults we came across on the Honda Accord 2.2 is that once the DPF removal programming was completed, on the test run we found that the cruise control function on this car stopped working. We are glad to say we have over come this problem with our own in house solution and currently are the only company in the UK to do a full removal service without any problems.
